In between dog walks I like to do a bit of leafleting to spread the word about Scallywags services. You can tell a lot by the welcome mats or little ornaments people have by their front doors. From a simple 'Welcome' or 'Bless this House' doormat you get a sense that the people inside are warm and friendly. I particularly like the 'Forget about the dog, beware of the wife' ornaments I've seen dotted about. At the other end of the scale you see a lot of 'no junk mail/hawkers/labour politicians (amend as appropriate depending on political persuasion)/trident supporters etc etc type of notices stuck to doors. And these make me wonder a little about the people who live inside and what makes them so mad at the world. My philosophy is that courtesy costs nothing and that it's nice to be nice. The best one was a chap I encountered today who told me in no uncertain terms that I was not to put any junk mail through his letterbox. I clocked the wee dog trailing behind him, laughed inwardly, and bit my tongue as I was tempted to say "You don't need one anyway - your wife has already booked your dog in with me". It may not be much but it felt like a small victory.

Below you can see pictures of Max before Storm Doris - cute and fluffy to the erm.. Max! As the storm blew in we went for a walk in Strathaven park.
Below is the 'after' shot ... I have been busy performing major surgery on this motley crew... OK so perhaps that childhood dream of becoming a vet is unlikely to become a reality but at least - thanks to a bit of needlework - whack whack, wonky donkey, little chicken and the (no longer) headless reindeer are unlikely to be disembowelled by one of my charges. Well not for a couple of minutes anyway ....
All go at SS towers today. We were out in typical Scottish '4 seasons in 1 day' weather (although the temperature was definitely Arctic) this morning. We met with Baxter the Cocker Spaniel this afternoon and are looking forward to welcoming Max the Shih Tzu to the pack tomorrow. Wrap up warm ... snow is on its way....
